Mapping Population Dynamics at Local Scales Using Spatial Networks

نویسندگان

چکیده

Nowadays, around half of the global population lives in urban areas. This rate is expected to increase up two-thirds by year 2050. Most studies analyze dynamics wide geographic ranges, focusing mainly on cities. According them, spatially distributed (and polarized) two extremes: large agglomerations and rural deserts. However, this remark excessively general imprecise. For reason, it remains essential these at other spatial scales. A close-up look thinly populated regions shows how are also noticeable. In paper, we spatiotemporal patterns distribution a predominantly area applying local-scale approach. These represented using networks with nodes representing human settlements links showing hierarchies between nodes. case study conducted small municipality located northwestern Spain. It very particular pattern distribution.

Local extinction synchronizes population dynamics in spatial networks.

Spatial population theory predicts that synchrony in the dynamics of local populations should decrease as dispersal among populations decreases. Thus, it would be expected that the extinction of local populations and the attendant loss of immigrants to surrounding populations would reduce synchrony. We tested this hypothesis through a large-scale experiment, simulation of the experimental syste...

Synchrony of population dynamics of two vineyard arthropods occurs at multiple spatial and temporal scales.

When populations are synchronized, they rise and fall together. Analysis of population synchrony and its relationship to distance has played a major role in population ecology but has been absent from most studies of managed populations, such as agricultural arthropods. The extent to which populations at different locations are synchronized reflects the relative roles of shared environmental im...

Networked Networks : Uncovering Hierarchical Scales of Spatial - Temporal Dynamics

Networked Networks: Uncovering Hierarchical Scales of Spatial-Temporal Dynamics by Jie Sun Doctor of Philosophy in Applied Mathematics Clarkson University The first, and main part of the thesis is the exploration of coupled oscillator networks (OSN). OSN are often used as models for complicated systems that consist of interacting components. It is desirable to have reduced order models for OSNs...

Spatial Predictive Mapping Using Artificial Neural Networks

The modelling or prediction of complex geospatial phenomena (like formation of geo-hazards) is one of the most important tasks for geoscientists. But in practice it faces various difficulties, caused mainly by the complexity of relationships between the phenomena itself and the controlling parameters, as well by limitations of our knowledge about the nature of physical/ mathematical relationshi...

Changes at Multiple Spatial Scales

Change detection on rasterized data is extremely dependent on accurate radiometric and geometric rectification. The development of processing tools able to minimise these requirements has been recognised since the late eighties. In the present paper we present a methodology for detecting changes on multidate satellite images with different radiometric and geometric characteristics via Multireso...
